Hi! I’m Sophie Toovey, and I’m so glad you’re here. I’d love to introduce myself—and the stories I love to write.

Some of the books that shaped me as a reader include Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (the ultimate romance), the mind‑bending Chaos Walking trilogy by Patrick Ness, and The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett, a childhood favourite full of wonder, growth, and, of course, secrets.

So what can you expect from my books?

I write across overlapping genres—from romcom to dystopian romance—but the heartbeat of every story is always the romance. Expect swoon-worthy moments (kisses only), sharp banter, and strong female leads. I’m drawn to flawed characters who face gritty challenges and come out changed, and my stories often weave in themes of grace and redemption from my Christian perspective. Some books include faith elements; all of them explore love that costs something.

I describe my writing as clean, not sweet. I’m not here for fluffy clichés—I’m here for emotional depth, real stakes, and characters who earn their joy. And while I adore a hopeful ending, I tend to favour “Happy For Now” over a neatly tied-up HEA… especially if there’s a wedding involved. After all, that’s only the beginning of the adventure.
